Summary
The Emotional Journey Map records the feelings, thoughts, interactions, and actions that the user goes through to reach a specific goal. This method is used to find out which steps are particularly painful or enjoyable for users, who else is involved in the process, and to observe the experience from the user's perspective.
Step-by-step
  1. Create Persona(s) from obtained information. They will be helpful to put yourself into your user's mind.
  2. Use the Emotional Journey Map to document which tasks the users try to accomplish, how long it takes them, and how they feel. Go through the complete daily routine of the persona to cover all possible pain points, hopes, gains etc. By taking a deep look at everything that is happening, you will start to identify issues, hurdles or work-arounds that you can start working at.
